I've been practically living at this property for the past 3 months. Yes there are a number of suites available, but only a handful.
The suite is basically the same size as 2 rooms combined. In addition to the standard room setup, there's a separate couch, 2 side tables, and an extra bench underneath the TV.
Also, there are 4 rooms with a small terrace where you can step out and catch some fresh air.
Pluses:
Very friendly and helpful staff - going out of their way to make your stay comfortable.
All rooms have a mini-fridge in the room, in addition to 2 bottled water free each day.
WXYZ - probably the cheapest drinks in the area. $5 for beer, $6-7 for a glass of wine, and $7-9 for cocktail. Plus speedier service than the bar at Sheraton.
Pet friendly hotel - I have my 2 dogs here frequently
Comfortable room - plus size shower and Bliss products ROCK!
Location - OK it's not the best part of Brooklyn. But it's close to most of the subway lines (2/3/R within 1 block, A/C/F/4/5/6 within a 5 minute walk). AND now it has a Shake Shack nearby.
Minuses:
High floor rooms- while you get the great view, it's also close to the club upstairs. There are reports that it might get loud, and they typically pre-block platinum guests on the lower floors for that reason.
Typical aloft room - with the "cheap chic" design, it's not for everyone. Granted, it's comfortable, but some people want to take a bath, and you can't do that when it's shower-only.
Air conditioning - it can get erratic and turns on/off on its own, even when you try to control it using the thermostat.
Limited food/restaurants - there are *some* food selections in the pantry area, and you can order "room service" (read: takeout) from Sheraton. Still, not many good choices either at or near the hteol. Although, good alternatives are available via delivery services (Seamless, Grubhub).
Platinum amenity - only 250 points as brand standard.
