For my DEQM "W" fares SFO-ORD-SFO, I did the following

  • Searched using systemwide Region 2 without inputting the e-cert
  • Found the flights I wanted with "W" fare basis
  • Called websupport
  • Gave the agent the flights I wanted saying I needed it to be in "W"
  • Websupport agent found the flights at the same fare
  • Websupport agent booked the flight with the e-cert

If you then want to apply an upgrade, go online and apply it yourself after the ticket is booked
