Rejected for Citi AA Mastercard--not first-time cardholder.
I received an offer in the mail for the AA Citi Mastercard for 40k bonus miles. Early in 2011 I applied for and received the two AA personals (75k x 2) and the business (1 x 75K). I assumed that because the offer was for a MASTERCARD, not VISA or AMEX, that I wouldn't be considered a first-time applicant, but I was WRONG!

Thank you for applying for the Citi(R) Platinum Select(R)
/ AAdvantage(R) World MasterCard account. Unfortunately, we
are unable to approve your request for the account at this
time because of the following:

o This specific offer is valid only for first-time Citi(R)
/ AAdvantage(R) cardmembers.? Our records indicate that
you already have a Citi(R) / AAdvantage(R) account with us.
