Thanks for all the advice. It is easter weekend, which may explain why I wasn't seeing any good fares. I checked out the Air Asia destinations, and couldn't sell my wife on any of the destinations. Our Cathay Pacific tickets are BA award tickets eventually going on to Bali, so I don't think we have any other add on options. We spent a good while in BKK a couple years back, so we were looking for something a little different and we will have a few days in HK coming and going on our trip. I was able to find 4 AA award seats to Hanoi which I have on hold, while I am looking at trying to work some flights on Vietnam Air from Hanoi to Da Nang. I have a lot of Hyatt free night credits, and evidently they have a new resort near Dan Nang, within easy driving distance to Hoi An. As we have never been to Vietnam, it looks like that might possibly work for a four of five day time frame. Thanks for all the suggestions.
