^I agree, any mandatory fees paid to the hotel should be included in the price quoted. The hotels know this is a deceptive practice, and use it especially to screw up comparisons on third party sites such as Orbitz, etc., but it is also often not prominently mentioned on their own sites. It is a deceptive business practice, and should be made illegal. States are able to do this, and the federal government may be able to based on the interstate commerce clause, but IANAL.
