Bought one, hours later got an email from them stating, that they've deposited $50 to my expedia account.
As expedia account- they've created a new temporary account.
After searching for hotels I was able to book a hotel (obviously, the $50 gift card doesn't pay for tax, so I found $50/night fare hotel room and paid some $6 tax)

At the moment I don't see any way of cheating. The expedia says the itinerary has been paid in full...
