I did 10 minute run/5 minute walk intervals today (though the last was a 5 minute run), bumping up the speed at each run interval, totally 35 minutes running and 20 minutes walking. You mentioned you wouldn't mind dropping weight. Intervals can be an effective way to prolong your workout (burning more) without trashing joints and muscles. During the 'down' interval, your heart rate drops, but unless you drop to a
very slow stroll, it remains elevated - so you continue burning (and building stamina).
