Business class is probably where they are MOST likely to get no shows -- particularly those on full- and fully-refundable tickets, so they would be fools not to develop an equation for overbooking on those flights ... if they blow the calculus, and sell too many, even bumping someone is well worth the cost (even if they give a "free" ticket it would be used on a slow day, toss in a hotel and a couple meals -- that's a lot -- but if they could sell the SYD-SFO, or HKG-SFO at full, walk-up price to someone else, it makes a whole lot of sense to do so. Odds are there are going to be one or two relatively "discretionary" folks who will accept the bump.
