Really? Getting thrown off a train with force was the right thing?

Did it help the TOC collect revenue? Unless there were ticket barriers at the station where the scrote alighted (and none at the next stop) then it didn't. All it achieved was preventing him from stealing one stop's more travel. And gave everyone a good spectacle.

Again, much as I enjoyed seeing him get thrown off, I can't help thinking that having passengers act as revenue officers, and using force in lieu of accepting payment, isn't reasonable. I wouldn't like to have justice meted out on me by a have-a-go hero next time I have a problem with my ticket.

If the only remedy available for a fare-dodger is a) wait an hour for police, or b) ask a Big Man to throw him off the train, then the TOC probably needs to think again about revenue protection.
