I recall a few years ago being on a flight (not AS) to ANC. I was in the row behind the exit row which was occupied - one on either side of the aisle - by two young women. They were clearly intoxicated at boarding, sprawled all over their bank of seats, one was painting her nails, they were loud and they were telling everyone that they were FA's for that airline and were dead heading to Anchorage to celebrate the birthday of one of them. They laid across their seats during take-off without doing up their seat belts, with their legs propped on the aisle seat arms, etc. We were in the back so drinks weren't free but I observed the working FA palming them bottles of booze for a couple of hours and they finally passed out - in the exit row! I wrote to the airline involved and got a decent reply but it was certainly not a good PR thing and it was certainly not a safe situation or a particularly nice one given the language, loudness, nail varnish smell, etc. I would have happily tossed either one of their drunken carcasses somewhere toward the rear of the plane if there had been an emergency as they were totally incapable of managing any duties of sitting in an exit row. Shameful and shameful that the FA kept serving them albeit surreptitiously she thought.
