You do realize that without spending much money at all, if you had been accumulating AA miles from non-flying as fast as you could (but only in cases where it didn't cost you additional money), I bet you could have 250K additional lifetime miles, be lifetime Gold, and not have this problem.

Until Dec 1 of last year, AA counted all miles from all sources (credit card spend, credit card signup, pudding, yogurt, hotels and car rentals and bonuses on same, subscribing and unsubscribing to AA emails, etc, etc) toward lifetime status.
Hmmmm. I am more than happy to be told I am wrong, but... I don't think that's true.

I have been in AAdvantage since 1988, and 10+ years in there had status, the other years mainly did about 15k-20k since I have always had to go coast>coast and overseas regularly. Went exclusive with AA in about 1994. Have had AA Citi card since 1991 and put every flight on it & lots more. Gather miles for cars, hotels, etc. And if those miles were reflected in my lifetime miles... well, I reckon I'd have been Lifetime Gold long ago! I have about 750k also.

Or maybe I did get all those miles toward "Lifetime" and somehow folks think one should be earning more miles and get to Lifer status faster?!?!

I could be wrong, but I figure at the rate I'm going my million miles won't arrive for another 7+ years!
