If you think you are annoyed, think of how angry someone would be if they buy full-fare first only a few days in advance and can only pick a less than desirable seat because all of the good seats were picked by cheap fare passengers who upgraded using a SWU (about to expire) or mileage + co-pay.
If your planning skills are poor enough that you're buying full-fare first tickets a few days before travel, you deserve whatever seats you get
