I set up Amex Safekey the other week, and it then locked me out when I tried to use it again on ba.com – called into Amex and was told it was a known issue. Unfortunately only some of the call centre employees have access to the system required to reset the safekey. The first 3 people I spoke to couldn’t help me and told me to call back and hopefully get through to an agent who was set up with the relevant access. They also suggested booking with BA over the phone until the issue was resolved.
When I finally got Amex to fix the problem they gave me 2,000 miles ex-gratia and £5 credit.
