I once had a 3 hour flight over middle America seated next to a very intelligent and curious 12 YO boy. We entertained ourselves with the GPS on my computer for most of the flight. It displayed altitude, speed and all of the little towns that we were passing "through" on the way to our destination.
I managed to get a GPS signal on my Garmin Nuvi once while on a plane, the max speed indicator on it is 500-something MPH.
I wonder if I could ever convince somebody that I achieved that speed while driving
