That said, yes, they are aging <slightly >, and are in the process of being updated. Having AVOD was never a huge priority to me. I just LUV the feel of the huge old planes!
I am an "old" NWer and to me there is no comparison with the 777. I was debating whether to use my last two SWUs to either TLV or DXB in biz. The minute the agent told me that the flight to TLV would be on a 747 and DXB would be in a 777 I made up my mind to go to DXB.

I cannot sleep well on a plane, even in J, and find the movie/TV selections far superior on the 777. AVOD is only in J on a 747 so in Y you are stuck with some fool's idea of "entertainment" which almost always involves some romantic "comedy". No thanks.

I am able to get some sleep on a 777 because at least I can watch something interesting until I get drowsy. I also love the lie flat J configuration on the 777 compared to the wonky incline of J in the 747.
