1. Yes, the 747s are just outdated. It's 2012, not 1992. DL is in the process of changing the interiors, but it will take a long time to complete the changes. Until then, just know to avoid DL 747s and 763s.

2. EC should have a bit more leg room, even though it may look the same.

3. The comment about "Israeli sensibility" may not go very far here. If you are displeased with the service then you can write DL about it. Provide as much info as you can (flight number, date, where you were seated).

4. Planning int'l flights over the holidays is always tricky. The lesson here is to do your homework about aircraft flown on certain routes, check out the service and amenities offered and make your choice accordingly. There are other SkyTeam members besides AF and KL. Look into OK, AZ, RO and SU as well. You should definitely be able to find a more comfortable alternative.
