I'll just add that things will eventually work out with the IT system, one way or the other. Maybe the IT department will pleasantly surprise all of us, or maybe we'll see a total meltdown, followed by the airline bringing in a new staff that will do a better job with the replacement system.
That happened where I worked when we shifted from DOS to Windows. The first contractor F'ed it up so bad that they were fired in less than a year, and a competent contractor was brought in. They have run our system as flawlessly as a Windows environment can be run since that time.
