Finally reached Gold and my status was update from Corporate Preferred to Gold. However, since reaching Gold in the past few months, my stays were more disappointing than ever

Stayed at 3 different hotels with no upgrade at all.

A four points I stay at 5-6 a year always places me on the SPG floor. On my last stay as Gold, I was not even placed on a SPG floor and obviously no upgrade.

Just came back from the Sheraton on the Falls in Niagara. Stayed there 4 times as Corporate Preferred in the past 2 years, and was always upgraded to a Deluxe Falls View room on the SPG floor. Now as Gold? Was only upgraded to a Falls View room not on the spg floor but on a lower floor with older rooms.

Conclusion: it seems that there is better chance to get upgrades as a Corporate Preferred vs. Gold.
