I think they've been donig it on some routes for ~3-4 months. Don't recall the exact date but believe it was late summer.

I suppose the rationale is that the J seat takes up more square footage, so should pay more - either that or that it makes up a smaller portion of a J fare, so those buyers would be unlikely to complain.

One more reason to use eUpgrades instead of paying for J.
