Mileage runners actually fly to retain status or gain a higher level status.
Benefits of MR ... are:
a. Gain EQMs
b. Gain RDMs

at reasonable costs.

Some airlines like DL sell either EQMs (but no RDMs) or sell RMDs (with no EQMs).

it is also a 'fun' way to get to know others and enjoy some new places and experiences.
