I searched google and the forums, but couldn't find an answer. Why do mileage runners actually have to fly instead of having some option with the airline to purchase the ticket and just have them credit the miles? It would free up space on the airplane and save the mileage runner the hassle.
Because expert MR fare finders would be able to often earn redeemable miles at under 1 cent/mile and elite qualifying miles at under 2 cents/mile.
The airlines generally do not want to make RDM and EQM available to the public at that price point.
