I fly the 737-800 transcon a lot (PDX-JFK-PDX) and prefer the 2nd exit row to the bulkhead. Tons of room and you can still have your laptop under the seat in front of you. And often the middle seat goes out empty.
That's what you do with laptop, eh? Don't know since I haven't flown with one in 3+ years.
As stated, my preference for exit aisle is only the bulkhead aisle since its possible to sneak feet under FC curtain. Otherwise, 6'2" not so much...
