The airline did not have peanuts on the flight, so kudos to them. As a father of a child with this allergy, I never would have given it a second thought before, but now that I have this, I understand in a way. It is life threatening, really it is. Airlines will eventually stop serving them. BTW...what is DWKWIA?
Honestly, I think this is an excellent solution. I have been on a handful of flights and asked for peanuts when the FA came around and didn't have them in his/her hand. 3 times that I remember the FA said "we don't have any on this flight, we have a passenger with allergies" and I was totally happy and content. It seems IF the airline knows, they take it seriously. FWIW - I think you made a good call and clearly there was no confrontation.

My opinion, it would be awesome if DL (and any other airline) would make a general announcement that a pax has peanut allergies and none are available on this flight. It obviously would require parents/pax to inform the airline, but I think a good move and I don't THINK it would be all that difficult to accomplish. Plus - Biscoffs may make a comeback!!!
