Well I guess I’ll take a crack at this since no one else has…
I have not stayed at the Newstead Belmont Hills, but I did take their ferry over there one afternoon just for the heck of it. I asked the front desk to show me a room and they showed me one of their One-Bedroom Suites. I guess the best feature was the fact that it was new and spacious, but overall design was nothing spectacular. The waterfront setting with a view over to Hamilton is nice. Major downside is the fact that you are not within walking distance of Hamilton and must rely on their ferry. I have stayed at the Hamilton Princess in the past (also Elbow beach, Southampton Princes, Royal Palms and a small guest house named Salt Kettle Inn) and find the Gold floor rooms to be reasonably nice (one of the greatest lounge venues anywhere)… but unfortunately they have thin walls and are rather small. But it is difficult to not like a pink hotel.
