[QUOTE=Loran;17733110]I'm also looking for advice for a 3 night stay at a Bali beach hotel in March and would appreciate any comments.

Background: I went to Bali for the first time last March, staying at Amandari and Amankila. For this trip half the time will be at Amanjiwo, so the other half I want on or near the water. Bali will be my first stop from America, so I'm mostly looking to relax. One day will be "forced" relaxation, as I'll be there on Nyepi. The other day I'd like to do something physical and outdoors like a hike for part of the day. I don't care about shopping, but good food on or near the resort is a major plus.

I loved Amankila and would have no hesitation returning there. However, I'm open to new places, and with only 2 full (non-travel) days, is closer to DPS better?

From the various threads in this forum it seems like there are a few top choices other than Amankila:
- Amanusa: I didn't mind the walk to the beach at Amankila, so is it fair to assume the distance from the beach won't be an issue here? Can you see the water from the villas?

I know on Nyepi itself the island shuts down, but are there activities before or after that would make it better to stay closer to populated areas than Amankila would have me?

Thanks![/QUOTE

Amanusa 's a good choice. Sean's the GM there now ( Amanjiwo previously& responsible for the Indon properties )

You can see the sea in the distance from some villas beyond the greenery / golf course. The beach is reached by ' buggy ' similar to Amankila but ' level ' not " Lombard St "
I'd stick with Amanresorts if you're considering those you also listed.
