Only a and b can reserve exit rows in adavance. Your only chance is that there are no requests on day of departure from groups a - c for the exit row. The second important criteria is that you have to be physically fit to operate the exit doors, understand the English commands properly and be able to assist other pax in case of an emergency evacuation.
Luckily LH did not follow the stupid UA greedy rules of charging extra for exit rows.
I was able to select exit row seats when checking in online when i was flying LH Y to BOG. I don't have any status with LH. Only *A G. It appeared also that when i selected any seat from the Y cabin the system blocked seat next to me.
