I just returned from there, but my stay was not affected by this ban.

I have to admit finding a very strange disparity between what its like upon arriving at the Male airport, where you are forbidden from bringing in materials contrary to islam, pork, alcohol, etc, to what life is like on the resorts--where I was given a bottle of wine as an apology for a complaint that I had with the room.

For some reason I doubt that the hotels are really going to be forced to shut down or give up spa services etc, but I can easily imagine alcohol/pork being forbidden, and separate spa services for men and women. there is something disconcerting about a muslim state making the vast majority of its earnings condoning behavior that are illegal under shariah law.
