With rare exceptions, award redemption almost always have to be done using the carrier's own flight numbers. Codeshares are not valid for award redemption.

However, since VS is a partner of US, you should be able to call and redeem the award using the VS flight number. Be aware though, that according to the US partner award chart, only economy awards are available on VS flights.
