The answer to your question is that the
published fees for cancellations and changes apply to both paid and award tickets. Paid ticket changes are $75/$100 depending on whether they are done online. Since changes to award tickets almost always need to be done by phone, count on $100 to change your award itinerary or cancel and redeposit the miles. Note that these change fees are per PERSON even if you have more than one person on a single itinerary.
The exception would be for Full Flex awards, which are treated the same as Full Flex paid tickets: fully refundable and no change fees.
