You make a great point. So I guess that part of my question was stupid. But I think I can redeem myself here Let me try a few specific questions related to my OP.

Does AS charge any fees just for redeeming miles beyond the $25 partner award + $15 reservation fee? I'm not talking about fees specific to any particular partner, just fees for mileage redemption.

What is the fee to replace, extend or exchange award tickets?

What is the fee to cancel an award ticket & redeposit the miles?
