The presidential order includes tourist resorts. I hope that this somehow will be reversed, partly for the sake of visitors but much more importantly for the many people whose jobs will be lost.

Not to pile on re the bad news for the wonderful people there, but the even worse news about the country is contained in the story's closing paragraph:

An angry protest last month followed a call by U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay for the Maldives to end floggings of women being punished for adultery.
