I am on an international United flight itinerary: LIM-IAH-CLE-DAY, but before my departure from LIM, earlier in the day, I am flying to LIM from Cusco on LAN Airlines. Unfortunately, United's not a parther with LAN. If my LAN flight, CUZ-LIM were to be cancelled, due to weather, or what ever reason, and LAN is unable to get me to Lima that day, I'll miss my United flight home. If such a situation were to occur, and I eventually get to Lima, am I going to have to buy a new ticket home, or will United put me on the next available flight?

To add, I am traveling on an award ticket, in business.
