I know this may be a stupid question but i just starting flying recently. Can i bring a bottle of wine in my suitcase check-in? I have read it appears fine on pressurized luggage holds like regular planes 320s so i am not worried about my first jetblue flight but would my connecting capeair flight be ok with that too? I dont want it to explode and ruin other peoples luggage and i know this is a very little plane so im wondering if its different
Your wine should be fine--at least from the altitude. As you are aware, the Cessna 402s that Cape Air flies are not pressurized, but that also means that they can't go too high without requiring oxygen for both the crew and the passengers--which is something they don't do.
I believe Cape Air tends to operate its flights at around 8,000 feet (and sometimes less), which happens to be equivalent to the cabin pressure that a pressurized jet like the A320 has during flight. So in other words, since wine is fine on a pressurized jet, it will be fine on Cape Air as well, since the cabin pressures are equivalent.
If you're still worried, though, you may want to look into something like the
WineSkin, which both provides padding for the bottle as well as seals in any leaks in case the bottle does break.
