Creeping devaluation! I suspect (but don't know) those are taxes whereas BA lumps on fuel surcharges as well.
FWIW when AA started AAdvantage (the Granddaddy of the FF schemes) 25+ years ago, and for about the first 15 years of its life, they used to eat the taxes so they truly were "rewards". Unfortunately marketeers have debased the word recently, but then "collect miles/points for a possible 50% discount off our rubbish coach/economy service" is nowhere near as exciting, is it?
