We visit the US from Europe and need data, last year we had the Virgin Mifi device which worked perfectly all the time.
This year we got the T-Mobile 4g mifi device, I find it pretty poor. The speeds are nothing like advertised most of the time. Occassionaly it's fast, but most of the time it's no faster than Virgin 3g, alot of the time it's a lot slower.
4G is a marketer's term of puffery and has been controversial in the US. TMobile and ATT try to palm off HSPA+ as 4g while they make arrangments for LTE. I have a Verizon LTE MiFi and the speed is better than 3g. One time I streamed an HD movie off it knowing Verizon was getting another $10 from me that month but keeping the Mrs. happy which was worth the ten bucks.
