Has anyone out there used the Terminal 8 Luggage Storage facility and if so, what are your thoughts?

I'm flying from JFK to DOH on QR and was contemplating on whether to go in the morning, store my luggages, and spent some time in Manhattan (to catch after New Year sale deals) or to just get a Midtown hotel for the day. I've got hotel reward points to burn so the second option is cost efficient enough to consider...
