I agree with qfodo.
Going through customs and immigration in GIG rather than GRU is easier and faster as São Paulo has become the major entry point for Brazil over the last 15 years and Guarulhos Airport remains hopelessly inadequate.
On the other hand, flying into Santos Dumont (SDU) near the South Zone beaches of Rio on a short 1 hour flight from São Paulo has its big advantages too. Most of those flights leave from centrally located Congonhas Airport (CGH) in SP.
