Extra AA miles NA-SA2 when connecting in LIM?
This is news to me and seems more like the Adios program (i.e segments) than the AAdvantage program.
I am informed that if I am flying from NA (LAX,MIA or JFK) to SCL and connecting in LIM on LAN (with a different LAN flight #, rather than just a stop on same flight #) it would be 80K for a J award instead of 50K. There are not that many direct flights from NA to SCL.
Has this always been the case?
I assumed (apparently wrongly) that all flights from NA to SA zone 2 are 50K in J one way with AA miles regardless of the number of stops (not stopovers).
Edited to add: That makes no sense to me. If that were the case, it'd be cheaper to fly NA to SA1 for 30K and a separate award SA 1 to SA 2 for 32.5K for a total of 62.5k (less than the above 80K)
