Huh? DL does NOT always hold connecting flights. I've missed several connections at hub cities over the years. In one case, they could have held a DFW-SAT flight for 15 minutes and we would have made the connection. Instead, they chose to let it leave and put 25 people in hotel rooms. IMO, it was a patently silly decision on someone's part.
