I think the OP starting out with Xmas sort of sums it up. On the other hand perhaps they have never stopped to think what referring to Christmas as Xmas conveys. It is Christmas with a Capital C.
It is a shame anyone has to work on Christmas at all. The OP should just be glad they had a roof over their head. Thank goodness they weren't in a stable sharing a bed with the animals like someone else we know.
