. What kind of plane did you have? Your description makes me think C182 or C206 since fast fixed composite singles weren't really around back then. C182s are pretty much the perfect single to own imo, versatile, reliable and powerful.

Actually, did not use the Loran much. Mostly VOR Nav. Also, most of my flying was VFR. Sure, I flew IRF if I had to, but preferred visual.
Well, you know your aircraft. Yep, the mighty 182 was my plane. It was pretty rock solid, fast enough, and dependable. I've had my keester bounced all over the sky in that plane and I'm still here to tell the tales.
When I sold it, I rented an Aerospacial Tobago for a while - and once a Trinidad. Those were pretty neat composite planes. Sleek and fast. Something tells me I got something like 180 knots true out of them? Can't quite remember. But I enjoyed renting them. Would have bought one if I'd stayed with flying the way I used to.
