Interesting point.. if its paid time off to staff, the hotel isn't gaining an advantage on no housecleaning for the day..

I would just walk down to front desk and ask for whatever I need.. and if the sheets get soiled to the point where you need housekeeping, I'd get a set of everything, and self serve..

But if you're checking in, and the no housekeeping was told to you, I guess you would have a choice to check-in elsewhere..
