I just got into AA. So in order to achieve status, I would need 25k for gold. Maybe get plat since it's 50k. Exp is probably not viable without a larger investment or an amazing deal. The points I transferred do not count toward status, so I'm basically starting from zero.

I'm looking for the perks of status, especially with AA since they have lower fares and fees. I'm a Canuck that is having a hard time getting to these prime departure areas in the states for some good MRs.

I looked into using my AP points to book a short haul to ORD, it's always an option. I just have to find the precise time to use it. Total cost RT would be 120$ with points (15k). Sometimes you gotta spend a little to make more!

I have no address for the special TEQM going on for ORD-LAX. Maybe I should be happy with DEQM, which would cost more to get plat. I don't know if there are specific conditions for DEQM. Can I get it in any class?

I'm thinking I shouldn't too ahead of myself and wait for what the new year will bring... Maybe there'll be some crazy deals I could take advantage of.
