Not sure what the cost is these days as personally I don't have to pay but I think is varies between routes etc...

They offer it on pretty much any route they fly the 777 and 744 but it's not gurenteed, and some routes get it more than others.

I had a pretty good run on the LHR route and my bro-in-law manages it fairly often (including last week) on Asian routes.

Note that at times they'll open up these seats well in advance and at other times just a a couple of week before the flight.
How does one request it - literally? Do i call up after booking a ticket and say.....what? I can't say i'm going to do it simply because i refuse to fly LY however its good know if i ever have to. Lastly, do you have to be holding a specific type of ticket?
