All aircraft produce wake turbulence. As a general rule wake spreads outwards from the wingtips at 5kts and descends at about 500fpm until it discipitates. A strong wind will discipitate wake turbulence quicker.
There are rules about how far a/c are spaced with respect to turbulence. If seperated visually they planes can be closer. It is possible to have two DH8s or 737 sized airplanes within 1-2 miles of each other. The following a/c will almost certainly feel the wake of the first. As they are similar wake turbulence categories this is OK.
