chexfan's Tips for a Pleasant Winter Olympic Experience:

1) Stop at a Wal-Mart and get hand-warmers before you attend any outside events. If you're gonna be outside... Layers, Layers, Layers!
2) Security is varying from venue to venue. The "guidelines" that the SLOC handed out were pretty exact for Snowbasin, Olympic Park and the ECentre.
3) If you are ticket-less, begging works (and a bit of charm) if you want to get into the Medals Ceremony at night.
4) Traxx parking is a nightmare if you park within 3 or 4 stops from the city (coming from Sandy and the south)
5) Garbage cans seem to be sparcely located.
6) Bring your own beer
7) Good luck finding a fun place to hang out at night in SLC. Park City is a better bet.
8) Bring sunglasses
9) Look at your restaurant bill to see if the gratuity is already added. We noticed that 18% was being added to tables w/ parties of 2 and 3. We surmised it was to eliminate the wait staff from being stiffed by foreigners.
10) Great 40% off sale at the Patagonia Outlet during the Games.
11) People don't like to trade McDonald's Happy Meal toys for Olympic pins
12) Do not make fun of youth groups "performing" on Main Street.
13) Tickets are being bought and sold very openly outside of every venue and downtown
and finally...
14) Never ask for directions to "that Temple Thingy"
