A couple of good places outside downtonwn that should accept a reservation: Michelangelo's, which is becoming my favorite SLC restaurant. It's in an obscure location in Sugarhouse (in a strip mall near the Tap Room for you locals) but the food & service are always great. The new Paris Bistro on 15th & 15th (across the street from Fresco) is a nice find. They're still working out the kinks in service, but I did enjoy my meal there.
Randy, the Blue Iguana (sister to the Red) might be more accessible. It's right downtown near 200 South & West Temple.
