I couldn't comment on competitiveness regarding current prices. We spent US$500 per person four years ago. That included air from AEP, airport transfers, hotel and two days touring. Excluded entry frees for most sites IIRC.

If your quote was for two days then I would say it is a good price. There is a lot of driving on gravel roads. Limited road signage.

One thing of note, we also tipped the driver and tour guide at the end of the second day. I tipped AR$100 per person. For me and my son that came out to AR$400 (about US$120 total). They earned the money.
