I guess I've been lucky at DTW. I rarely have waited for more than 10 min for a bag. Sometimes by the time I get to the carousel my bag is waiting for me!

But I would definitely say something of you waited nearly an hour. That's more time it would have taken to arrive internationally, go through immigration, get your bag and clear customs.
