That came as a pleasant surprise to me on a recent far east flight - I was only expecting 70 . Unfortunately it simply took me to 30 points past the level for gold rather than by 10 points. I thought I had done rather well getting it to within 10 points with the judicious use of a one way CW fare in the sale. And now BA have gone and scuppered my cunning planning, leaving me with points that I will be forced to squander (I won't earn enough to renew by my April membership year-end). If it weren't for the fabulous range of additional benefits, ahum, over and above silver I would NEVER fly BA again
